To the pain!

Ack. The wife insisted we take our kids to Kings Dominion this past Saturday, and we were there from 10am to 9pm. It was one of the hottest days of the year thus far. Seems like every church group in Virginia was there, as well.

Me having such fair skin, of course I got sunburned. It was painful and hot, naturally, but now the itching has begun. Like thousands of biting ants crawling over my back.

No more sun!

She was an American Girl

I took my daughter to see "Kit Kittredge, An American Girl" at the theater yesterday. All in all, a pretty good kid's movie, reminded me of Disney (non-animated) classics from my childhood, as well as Nancy Drew stories. Being that it was set during the Great Depression, it gave me the opportunity to talk to my 7-year old  about that history and her grandparents' experiences growing up at that time. My girl certainly liked it, which to me is more important than sourpuss reviews like Stephen Hunter's of the Washington Post.

And since my youngest is still ill and couldn't go to the movies, I continued the chick-flick day by going to our library and checking out "Heidi", starring Shirley Temple.

The Cure, Redux

I thought my Cure CDs would gather dust seeing that they are not currently among my choice of music, and haven't been for a long time.

Then I'm wandering YouTube, and encounter videos of LaLaVox, first her Kate Bush covers (incredible), then her Joni Mitchell covers (ditto), then out of curiosity, I watch her cover of 3 Imaginary Boys. Well, wouldn't you know it, then I'm watching Cure videos, mostly from Faith. Of course, that means I must go get my copy of Faith and put it in the player. In the dark, but of course. It helps to have 3 bourbons in me, too.

"Faith" was the Cure album that LK introduced me to. Twenty-effing-some years ago. It is extremely numbing, particularly "The Drowning Man". Must.. resist.. urge.. to.. next.. play.. Lou... Reed's... "Berlin".

Yeah, it's bed time.
